Standard Exclusions Of Global Income

The Terms & Conditions 

This is a summary of the principal terms and conditions of the Global Income plan. For a full explanation of the terms and conditions and exclusions, please refer to the Global Life & Income Protection plan agreement or the Global Life & Income Protection Key Facts.

The maximum Global Income plan benefit we will pay

In the event of a claim, the benefit we pay cannot be greater than 75% of your gross annual earnings at the time of your disability, LESS any other income you would be entitled to receive whilst you are disabled (such as income from the state, another insurance company, or any sick pay you will be entitled to receive from your employer). Please ensure that you are not over insured.

Advising us if you need to claim from your Global Income plan

You must advise us of your absence from work no later than 30 days prior to the end of your deferment period. The deadline for claiming for your disability benefit is one year after you become totally disabled from working. No benefit will be paid at all in respect of any claim you notify to us more than one year after you become totally disabled from working.

Excluded countries and regions

We will not cover you if you travel to any of the following countries or areas that the British Foreign Office has advised its citizens to leave:-

Afghanistan, Algeria, Angola (Lunda Norte), Burundi, Chechnya, Colombia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, East Timor, Iran, Iraq, Jammu, Kashmir, Liberia, Pakistan, Palestinian Territories, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen

A summary of the principal exclusions of the Global Income plan

No benefit will be paid if the claim is as a consequence of:-

A pre-existing medical condition as defined in the Global Life & Income Protection plan agreement
Active participation in war, war-like activities, and terrorist activities.
War, war-like activities and terrorist activities if you remain in or travel to an excluded country or region, or a country or region which the British Foreign Office has specifically advised British citizens to leave.
Suicide, the consequences of attempted suicide, intentionally self-inflicted injuries and gross negligence whether sane or insane.
Accidents whilst participating in a hazardous activity unless you have made a full declaration of how often you intend to participate in that particular activity and we have agreed to cover you for it in writing and you have paid any additional premium required by us to cover the increased risk.
An accident arising from any activity which is illegal in the country in which it is carried out.
Abuse of drugs, alcohol and medication.
Normal pregnancy.

Mental or nervous disorders

Payment of benefit for any disability that results from a mental or nervous disorder of any type will be limited to a maximum period of 24 months.
